Taj opens first Greater Kruger lodge

Taj Bush Lodge has opened in the Greater Kruger area, marking the Taj brand’s entry into the wildlife safari market in South Africa.

Operated by Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the six-key lodge is located within the Balule Nature Reserve and is the first of three planned Taj wilderness lodges in the region.

IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said the opening strengthens the group’s South African presence by extending itineraries beyond Cape Town into safari tourism.

“As Taj steps into Greater Kruger with the first of three luxury wilderness lodges, it brings with it a legacy of over a century of offering exceptional experiences deep rooted in the destination. The opening of Taj Bush Lodge, Greater Kruger, strengthens the brand’s presence in the country, extending the South African itinerary, combining the panoramic landscapes of Cape Town with the wildlife of Kruger National Park,” said Chhatwal.

The lodge has been designed with thatched roofs, wood finishes and earthy tones intended to reflect the surrounding environment.

Experiences on offer include game drives, bush breakfasts, braais (BBQs), safaris in Kruger National Park, Blyde Canyon boat cruises, quad biking in the Maseke Reserve, Panorama Route excursions, Olifants River cruises and visits to attractions including Jessica the hippo and the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Guests also have access to Taj’s J Wellness Circle spa offering.
