TK orders 225 Boeing aircraft

Turkish Airlines has announced plans to add 225 Boeing aircraft to its fleet.

In a filing to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, the airline confirmed an order for 75 widebodies from Boeing – 50 firm and 25 option B787-9 and B787-10s – for delivery between 2029 and 2034.

The addition of the larger B787-10 will give the airline more capacity and improved fuel efficiency on high-demand routes linking Istanbul with the Americas, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Negotiations for a further 150 B737-8/10 MAX aircraft have also been finalised.

The airline added: “With these orders, our entire fleet is targeted to consist of new-generation aircraft by 2035, thereby strengthening operational efficiency and supporting an average annual growth rate of around 6%.

This is Turkish Airlines’ largest-ever Boeing widebody purchase.
