France expands ‘Train + Air’ service
French rail operator SNCF Voyageurs has extended its Train + Air service to include Ouigo trains serving Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, allowing travellers to book rail and air tickets in a single reservation.
The expansion adds rail connections from Marseille Saint-Charles, Aix-en-Provence TGV, Avignon TGV, Nîmes Centre and Nîmes Pont du Gard, Montpellier Saint-Roch, and Montpellier Sud de France to Lyon airport.
Lyon is the third airport to offer the Train + Air service after Paris Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Colombia launches tourist train
Colombia launched a new tourist train last month, which travels through Boyaca, connecting the towns of Paipa, Duitama, Nobsa, and Sogamoso.
The ‘Train of Life and Hope’ is operated by Acerias Paz del Rio with support from the Ministry of Transport and can accommodate up to 216 passengers.
The journey begins in Paipa, known for its thermal springs, gastronomy and the Sochagota Lake. In Duitama, travellers can explore the Pueblito Boyacense, an architectural attraction.
The next stop in Nobsa allows visitors to tour workshops where artisans use ancient weaving techniques. The final stop, Sogamoso, is home to the Suamox Archaeological Museum.
The train operates every weekend and on public holidays. Tickets include cultural tours and activities such as guided walks, food fairs, heritage visits, and artistic performances, according to Colombia One.
Croatia pilots night trains
Croatia is piloting new night train services from Zagreb, providing late-night and early-morning services every Saturday and Sunday.
The trains will connect Zagreb’s main station with several nearby towns and cities, including Dugo Selo, Zaprešić, Zabok, Krapina, Jastrebarsko, Karlovac, Velika Gorica, Sisak, Ivanić-Grad and Križevci.
Trains will operate at times ranging from midnight to around 05h00, according to Croatia Week.
