New China-Uzbekistan Silk Road train
Geographic Expeditions will launch a new 22-day rail journey from China to Uzbekistan, with departures planned for September 2026 and August 2027.
The journey will be operated by Golden Eagle Luxury Trains and will travel to multiple cities in China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Grand Silk Road by Train will start in Beijing, exploring the Forbidden City and Great Wall, before heading to Xian to view the Terracotta Warriors and then the Gobi Desert. Guests will then take a private flight transfer to Almaty, Kazakhstan, before resuming the rail tour to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The train will feature comfortable cabins, a bar lounge and high-end dining. The trip includes accommodation, ground transport, airport transfers and most meals.
New train to connect Budapest and Belgrade
From March 2026, a new train route will connect Budapest in Hungary and Belgrade in Serbia, pending final safety approvals from Hungary.
Six round trips will operate per day, with three operated by Srbija Voz using new Chinese CRRC high-speed trains, and three as MÁV services. Trains are expected to leave about every two hours from Budapest's Keleti station and reach Belgrade Centre station around three hours later.
Other stops include Kiskunhalas and Kelebia in Hungary and Subotica and Novi Sad in Serbia.
Travellers should note that while Hungary is part of the Schengen Area, Serbia is not, and passport and visa controls will apply once the train leaves Kelebia.
