Orient Express launches Rome-Istanbul itinerary

Orient Express has launched a new luxury five-day rail itinerary linking Rome and Istanbul.

On October 22 the first La Dolce Vita Orient Express will depart from Roma Ostiense station. The journey will offer stops and curated experiences in Venice, Budapest, and Brașov and Sinaia, in Romania, before arriving in Istanbul.

The experience will be enhanced with Michelin-starred culinary experiences throughout the journey.

Rail Europe expands Swiss portfolio

Rail Europe has expanded its Swiss portfolio with the addition of mountain excursions and panoramic rail experiences to its trade offering. 

The expanded portfolio includes alpine excursions and panoramic rail journeys such as Jungfraujoch, Glacier 3000, Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and a selection of famous ridges, mountains and peaks, such as Gornergrat, Pilatus, Titlis, Schilthorn Rigi, Säntis, Chäserrugg and Brienzer Rothorn.

The portfolio was developed in partnership with Travel Switzerland and SBB, to combine bookings on to one platform and sold on a single ticket.

Azerbaijan-Georgia sleeper train returns

A sleeper train service will connect Azerbaijan and Georgia again after a six-year hiatus which began during COVID.

The service is operated by ADY/Azerbaijan Railways and connects the two capitals, Baku and Tbilisi. 

Daily departures from Baku are scheduled for 23h10 with stops at Bilajari, Yevlakh, Ganja, Aghstafa and Boyuk Kasik in Azerbaijan, as well as Gardabani and Tbilisi in Georgia, arriving in Tbilisi the following morning. Departures from Tbilisi are scheduled at 21h00 with arrival in Baku the following morning.
