Tuesday Smile: Bikes made from Nespresso pods for hire at Cape Grace

15 Dec 2024

The Cape Grace Hotel has partnered with Swedish bicycle and lifestyle brand, Vélosophy, and Nestlé to offer guests bicycles made from 95% recycled aluminium, including Nespresso coffee capsules.

Source - Nestlé Nespresso SA

The bicycles highlight sustainability and innovation with a design inspired by Nespresso’s Ice Leggero capsule including a capsule-shaped bell, an oak carrier basket with cup holders for on-the-go coffee and aluminium components crafted from recycled materials in Nespresso’s global recycling programme.

At check-in, guests can reserve one of the 10 uniquely named bicycles such as Grace, Two Oceans, Seal, Mermaid, Penguin, Big Wheel, Speedy, Scuba, Sharkie and Breeze. Each rental includes a sanitised bicycle, helmet, navigation map and security chain.

The bicycles are available for day-time exploration with a requirement to return before sunset.

Sustainability milestone

This initiative is part of Cape Grace’s eco-friendly practices with Green Key certification awarded in 2024.

Leon Meyer, Hotel Manager, emphasised the importance of such partnerships. “This collaboration frees our team to focus on curating special moments while contributing to sustainability.”
