United Airlines is rolling out a new feature on its app to allow passengers to go on a waitlist for their preferred seat if it was not available during booking.
Passengers can now request their preferred seat type. If the seat becomes available, the airline will automatically assign the customer to their preferred seat and notify them that they have been moved.
Seat types available for the new feature consist of window or aisle seats, exit rows or bulkhead seats. Passengers can be put on the waitlist when selecting seats up to 12 hours before the flight’s departure.
