Update: strike affects flights and travel in Greece

Flights to and from Greece as well as transport in the area are expected to be disrupted by a 24-hour public sector strike today, November 6.
Greek air traffic controllers are due to take part in the industrial action between 12h00 and 15h00 local time. Airlines, such as Easyjet, said they would be retiming flights to cope with the expected air traffic disruption.
Athens Airport tweeted on Wednesday that there would be no flights between 12h00 and 15h00 due to the strike. Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air have also reported disruptions but all travellers are urged to contact their airlines and check their flight status as delays are expected.
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said there would also be no ferry services in Greece for the whole of Wednesday.
“The Athens tram and some metro lines (1, 2 and 3) are expected to operate normally,” said the FCO. “Suburban and national railway will be affected for a 24-hour period. There will be no metro connection between central Athens and the airport.
“Bus and tram services in Athens will operate between 09h00 and 21h00. Traffic in Athens could be subject to considerable disruption due to closed roads and protest marches.”
Flight statuses can be checked below:
Lufthansa Air France/KLM Qatar Airways British Airways SAA Emirates
