From January 1, the US will introduce extra fees for foreign tourists visiting 11 of its national parks.
The US Department of the Interior, said non-residents would pay US$100 (R1 710) per person in addition to the standard entrance fee. An annual pass will cost $250 (R4 278) for non-residents.
The fees will apply to the following parks: Acadia National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Parks, and Zion National Park.
The funds will go towards the maintenance of the parks.
