A CONSORTIUM of United States (US) businessmen purchased the 34-room Villa Toscania - situated in the Johannesburg suburb of Kempton Park, just two kilometres from Johannesburg International Airport (JIA) - for an amount of R2,2m at the auction held on the premises on Wednesday, August 16.
Chris Oelofsen, a local attorney acting on behalf of the consortium, told Travel Now the group had arrived from the US late last week to finalise plans for the hotel which was placed under liquidation approximately three months ago.
He would not elaborate until negotiations had "been signed, sealed and delivered" but indicated that the hotel may be run in conjunction with a well-known, independent Southern African hotel group.
