Vietnam shifts to biometric-only check-in

Starting December 1, it will be mandatory for most passengers to check in at Vietnam airports using biometric procedures and self-service kiosks.

This excludes passengers with checked luggage and special assistance needs, who will still be assisted at check-in counters.

From now until November 30, passengers can register their biometric data, including face and fingerprint recognition at airports or on the VNeID app.

According to Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Phạm Minh Chính, this transition period will help airlines, airports, and travellers adjust to the new system before it becomes compulsory.
