Winds of change at Dreams

22 Feb 2017 - by Dorine Reinstein

AFTER a drastic restructuring

process last year, the

launch of a new product

and the promise of a new

booking system, at the end

of February, local operator

Dreams, will also have new

leadership.

Ceo, Erica Barrett, will

pass on the Dreams baton to

Wendy Goutier, who joined

Dreams in May 2016 as

operations manager.

Erica says the increasing

demands of her sports-crazed

family are her main motivator

to take a step back.

“The future is an exciting

one for Dreams and I have no

doubt that I have handed it to

the best team ever,” she says.

Wendy says Dreams

went through an extensive

restructuring in 2016, and

that she will be implementing

the company’s new vision this

year.

“We relooked at our model

and decided to go ‘back to

basics’,” says Wendy. The

restructuring means that, for

the next year, Dreams will

mainly focus and expand its

Southern African and regional

portfolio.

In December 2016,

Dreams also launched a

new self-catering apartment

product – locally, regionally

and internationally. Wendy

says Dreams saw a gap in

the market, as South African

families are increasingly

looking for affordable and laidback

holidays.

Still in the pipeline for

Dreams is a new reservations

system that will offer both

travel agents and the Dreams

Team a simpler transaction

process. Wendy says the new

booking system will allow

travel agents to book, pay

for and issue vouchers for

all Dreams’ SA properties

online. The system is

expected to go live before the

end of March.
