Work progresses on Celebrity Ascent

02 Feb 2023

Celebrity Cruises' fourth Edge Series ship Celebrity Ascent officially touched water for the first time on Saturday, January 21, as it was floated out from the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire.

This marked the completion of the ship’s hull and exterior superstructure and Celebrity Ascent is now moored in its new location at the shipyard, where interior work will continue over the next several months.

Debuting in December 2023, Celebrity Ascent will be the twin sister ship of Celebrity Beyond, which debuted last year.

“So much more than a ship, Celebrity Ascent will be the embodiment of a relaxed luxury resort at sea,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

Travellers can look forward to experiences such as:

  • Two-storey Edge Villa stateroom accommodation, as well as Infinite Veranda staterooms transforming into open-air verandas, among the largest at sea;
  • Views from the Magic Carpet, the world's first glass-roofed, cantilevered cruise ship experience designed as a panoramic outdoor venue, from bow to stern as a result of the outward-facing ship design;
  • The Sunset Bar and the world-class resort deck with exclusive cabanas, infinity-edge plunge pools and two-storey, Martini-shaped hot tubs;
  • More than 30 food and drink venues, including the high-tech, immersive Le Petit Chef Dinner Experience; the Eden Restaurant offering three-storey floor-to-ceiling windows, mixology-focused cocktails and globally-inspired dishes; and Le Voyage, which features exquisite cuisine.
