Air France and KLM have adjusted their refund policies, offering cash refunds and more attractive vouchers.
The new options for cash refunds will be available for flight cancellations taking place on and after May 15.
“The gradual lifting of quarantine measures gives more clarity on the evolution of flight schedules for the near future,” the airlines said in a statement.
Both airlines have also enhanced the attractiveness of the vouchers by adding a bonus of 15% to the total value of the initial ticket. These vouchers can be reimbursed after 12 months if they have not been fully used. The extra value could be used for a new booking but would not be included in the cash pay-out after 12 months if no new booking had been made, the airlines said.
AF and KLM warn that it may take longer to process transactions “in view of the magnitude of this crisis and the number of cancellations”.
