Air Mauritius will expand its India services when it resumes direct flights between Mauritius and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi from May 3.

The airline will operate twice-weekly flights with a 254-seat A330 configured in business and economy class.

The flight schedule between the two destinations will be as follows:

  • Flight MK 745 from Delhi to Mauritius will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, departing at 08h00 and arriving at 14h00.
  • Flight MK 744 from Mauritius to Delhi will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, departing at 21h15 and arriving at 06h15 the next day.

The airline already operates six weekly direct flights to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

Connecting to India from South Africa with Air Mauritius:

Air Mauritius currently offers the following flights between South Africa and Mauritius:

  • JNB-MRU: departs daily at 13h35 and arrives at 19h35.
  • MRU-JNB: departs daily at 09h25 and arrives at 11h50.
  • CPT-MRU: departs on Tuesdays and Sunday at 22h15 and arrives at 05h20 the following day.
  • MRU-CPT: departs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 16h25 and arrives at 20h30

Passengers can connect from Cape Town to Delhi on a Tuesday with a connection time of twelve hours, while the return flight on a Sunday has a connecting time of two hours and fifteen minutes. For travellers flying from Johannesburg, Air Mauritius offers a seamless connection to Delhi on a Wednesday and Saturday with a connection time of two hours and fifty minutes, however the flights do not connect well on the return leg as the Delhi flights only arrive in MRU at 14h00, and the JNB flights depart daily at 09h25.

Where flights do not connect, Air Mauritius offers passengers an STPC provided the fare, including YQ (but excluding other taxes), is a minimum of US$800 (R14 550).

Capetonians can connect to Mumbai via Mauritius on a Wednesday, with twelve hours and ten minutes connecting time, using the Tuesday return connection with a connecting time of nine hours and ten minutes.

Entry-level economy class fares to India are from:

  • Cape Town-Delhi: R12 379
  • Johannesburg-Delhi: R10 879
  • Cape Town-Mumbai: R10 766
  • Johannesburg-Mumbai: R10 066
