Ethiopian Airlines will increase frequencies on its Dubai route from three to four times daily, with effect from March 29.
The additional flight will depart Addis Ababa at 19h55 and arrive in Dubai at 01h10. The return flight will depart Dubai at 02h55 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 06h10.
EK steps up fleet retrofit programme
Emirates will complete the reconfiguration of its 15 two-cabin-class A380s into three cabin classes by November, adding premium economy across more of its long-haul network.
The upgraded A380s will feature 76 business-class seats, 56 seats in premium economy and 437 seats in economy class. The first aircraft enters service on the Dubai-Amman route from April 14, before moving to Prague from June 1.
Additional refurbished aircraft will be deployed on key routes, including an increase to a daily A380 service to New York (JFK) from June 1, the introduction of four-class A380s with premium economy to Zurich, and upgraded aircraft on routes such as Mauritius, Entebbe, Malé, Dublin, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Basra. Several of the B777-200LR and B777-300ER aircraft operating these routes will also feature refreshed cabins, with premium economy added on selected services.
VL operates first flight from FRA
Following the successful launch of Lufthansa City Airlines (VL) in Munich in 2024, the Lufthansa Group has expanded its short-haul network with VL’s inaugural flight out of Frankfurt (FRA).
The flight, operated by an Airbus A320neo, departed FRA for Manchester on February 9.
Berlin and Valencia will be added to the network this month, followed by Düsseldorf and Málaga in March.
From June, the airline will expand its network to several destinations across Europe, including London Heathrow, Stockholm, Bilbao, Hamburg, Helsinki, Ibiza, Marseille and Bucharest.
EK offers cashback on Skyward Miles
Emirates loyalty programme members will be able to convert Skyward miles into cash and make purchases across 500 brands in the Skyward Everyday portfolio. This includes dining, clothing and jewellery retailers, coffee shops, pharmacies and more.
Members will also earn miles on spend:
- 1 Mile for every AED3 (R13) spent on high street and luxury shopping, leisure and entertainment, beauty and wellness as well as services and dining.
- 1 Mile for every AED5 (R22) spent on groceries and pharmacy purchases.
Wizz Air expands premium offering
Wizz Air is expanding its new WIZZ class premium service across its entire fleet following a successful trial period.
The service can be booked as an add-on when selecting Smart or Plus bundles and allows passengers to reserve an empty middle seat in the first row, providing extra personal space.
Passengers also receive priority boarding, a 10kg carry-on suitcase allowance and a complimentary drink and snack.
EK enhances China connectivity
Emirates has entered into an interline agreement with Chinese low-cost carrier, Loong Air.
The agreement, which came into effect on February 13, will see EK expand its access to 22 destinations in China via major hubs in Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
The move is expected to strengthen the airline’s presence in China following last year’s launch of flights to Shenzhen and Hangzhou.
