Wait times at some of Europe’s major airports have doubled since last year due to the EU’s new biometric border system.
The Entry/Exit System (EES) is causing waits of up to two hours at major airports, including Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Munich.
According to a study by the Financial Times and published by Travel Pulse the average wait time reached 120 minutes at Frankfurt Airport in July, up from 60 minutes in the same month last year.
At Munich airport, waits are up to 60 minutes from 31 minutes last year and, in Amsterdam, waiting times reached 120 minutes from 80 minutes in the same period last year.
