Air travel round-up: EY launches Calgary flights

Etihad Airways will launch four weekly flights to Calgary, Canada, from November 3.

Flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 08h45 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrive in Calgary at 12h20. The return flight will depart Calgary at 18h05 on the same days and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 19h00 the following day.

EK adds second Tokyo flight

Emirates will increase frequencies to Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo to double-daily.

The additional flight will depart Dubai (DXB) at 22h30 and arrive in NRT at 13h30 the following day. The return flight will depart NRT at 21h30 and arrive in DXB 03h50 the following day. 

Both flights will be operated by a B777-300ER featuring four cabin classes with upgraded interiors and the latest-generation Economy seats.

Condor resumes FRA-TLV

Condor will resume flights between Frankfurt (FRA) and Tel Aviv (TLV) from May with five weekly flights. It marks a significant milestone – the airline’s first flight took place on the exact route, on March 29, 1956. The route will be operated by an A320, featuring ergonomic seats, flexible fare options and optional extras.

ET introduces daily Manila flights

Ethiopian Airlines will introduce daily flights from Addis Ababa to Manila, Philippines, via Hong Kong, from March 29.

Flight ET0644 will depart Addis Ababa at 22h55 and, after a brief stop in Hong Kong, will arrive in Manila at 18h15 the following day.

The return flight ET0645 will depart Manila at 21h10 and, after a brief stop in Hong Kong, will arrive in Addis Ababa at 05h15 the following day.

AF ups flights to New York

Air France will enhance connectivity between Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and two key airports in New York City: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). 

From June 1, the CDG-JFK route will increase from five to 11 daily flights. The CDG-EWR route will increase from one to two daily flights. 

Flights will be operated by Airbus A350-900 offering the latest business-class cabins with sliding doors. Aircraft operating to and from New York will also be gradually upgraded with Starlink Wi-Fi.

Plaza Premium opens new lounges

The Plaza Premium Group has opened its first lounge in Europe at Rome Fiumicino Airport’s Terminal 1 for international departures.

The 700sqm lounge can accommodate 115 guests and features private suites, a patio with live music, a nursery area for families and a private meeting room offering customised set-ups.

Culinary options include Italian and international dishes and signature aperitivos made from local ingredients, with the Primo Dining Room offering a curated à la carte menu. The Aero Bar features a variety of cocktails, curated regional wines, an espresso service and dessert bar.

The group has also opened a lounge in Domestic Departures at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Access to the lounges is available to all travellers, with multiple-entry options via Smart Traveller membership, online pre-booking, or walk-in purchase.
