AIRLINK is investigating the
possibility of reintroducing
flights to Margate.
Ceo, Rodger Foster, told TNW
that there was new evidence of
the willingness of passengers
to and from Margate to
pay a premium airfare for
the convenience of direct
services. “Accordingly, Airlink is
investigating the possibility of
returning to Margate,” Rodger
says, adding that no final
decision has been made as
to whether or when the airline
may do so.
Airlink provided uninterrupted
services to Margate from 1992
until April 2009, when services
were discontinued due to a
planned closure of the airport
(which never materialised) for
significant refurbishments and
runway upgrades, and because
of a substantial decline in
demand, says Rodge
