Airlink plans Zanzibar-Cape Town

Airlink as applied to the International Air Services Council for rights to operate flights between Cape Town and Zanzibar, revealing plans in the pipeline that well be welcomed by the travel trade.

The airline is seeking approval to operate daily return flights between Cape Town International and Zanzibar.

This comes shortly after Airlink’s announcement that it will introduce two weekly flights between Johannesburg and Zanzibar, from June 3, 2026.

Agents celebrated the news, telling Travel News that the new flights will improve competitiveness on the route and offer more flexible times.

Agents with clients in Cape Town said the new Airlink flights would offer travellers more convenient connections as they previously had to overnight in Johannesburg to catch FlySafair’s early-morning departure, as reported by Travel News.
