Bali is working on introducing a five-year Nomad visa for travellers who work remotely.
The ministry had been considering granting a special visa for business-leisure travellers and remote workers since 2021 but the plan was derailed due to a COVID resurgence, stringent border controls, and a lack of flights, reports Bloomberg.
According to Travel off Path, the visa will allow remote workers to earn a full income while staying in the country, without having to pay local taxes. This is with the proviso that the business they are working for is not Indonesia-based.
