The Blue Lagoon extends closure

21 Nov 2023
Comments | 0

Following increased seismic activity and the Icelandic Civil Protection Authority declaring a state of emergency, The Blue Lagoon – one of Iceland’s most iconic tourist attractions – has extended its closure.

Initially, The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa said it would remain closed until November 15 due to a 5.0 magnitude earthquake that pushed magma towards the surface around the Reykjanes Peninsula. This has now been extended to November 30, reports travelandleisure.com.

The Blue Lagoon will contact all guests with confirmed reservations until November 29 and offer a full refund.
