Heavy snow and freezing temperatures have disrupted transport on the east coast of America. More than 2 000 flights have reportedly been cancelled in the US amid the second major severe winter storm this year.
Passengers on transatlantic services to and from the US faced the prospect of delays and cancellations. British Airways said in a statement: “We apologise for the inconvenience the poor weather has caused but safety of our customers is our top priority. We recommend that you check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport.” The airline has advised travellers whose flight has been cancelled, have the option to rebook or to receive a refund.
KLM is also offering to rebook travellers who have tickets to/from or via JFK (New York Kennedy), IAD (Washington Dulles), BOS (Boston), ABE (Allentown), BWI (Baltimore), MDT (Harrisburg), BDL (Hartford), MHT (Manchester), LGA (New York LaGuardia), EWR (Newark), SWF (Newburgh), PHL (Philadelphia), PVD (Providence), AVP (Scranton), DCA (Washington Reagan) and HPN (White Plains) on Wednesday, 22 January 2014 and Thursday 23 January 2014.
