Romania has introduced an overnight tourist tax of RON10 (R38) in Bucharest from the beginning of this month.
Tourists staying in registered accommodation in Bucharest will pay the same amount per night, regardless of the hotel or rental property category.
The tax will be collected directly by accommodation providers and online booking platforms. Visitors who fail to pay the fee could face fines of up to RON1 500 (R5 650), while businesses may be fined up to RON4 000 (R15 070).
