Cathay cuts flights

Cathay Pacific will reduce flight frequencies on a number of routes between May 16 and June 30 as the ongoing situation in the Middle East continues to negatively impact the price of jet fuel.

Around 2% of total frequencies during the period will be cancelled, affecting most regional flights and some flights to South Africa, Australia and South Asia.

“In the past month, we have pursued every suitable means to keep our flights operating as normal. This includes adjusting fuel surcharges to mitigate the surge in jet fuel prices. Despite our best efforts, the measures we have taken have not been enough,” the airline said in a statement.

Flights to Dubai and Riyadh are also suspended until June 30.
