China resumes issuance of all visas

Three years down the line, China has finally returned to issuing all types of visas for all qualifying foreigners from today, March 15.

Anyone who still has a multi-year visa issued before March 28, 2020, when China further tightened border restrictions, can still use the visa if it has not expired, according to CNN.

According to the US-based Chinese embassy’s statement issued on Monday, March 13, visa-free entry will now resume to the southern island of Hainan and for cruise ships visiting Shanghai.

Visa-free entry will also restart for foreigners travelling from Hong Kong and Macao to the neighbouring Guangdong province, as well as for tour groups from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations visiting the provinces of Guilin and Guangxi.

The mandate to show a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours prior to departure and complete a health form still remains.
