COVID-19: Hotels launch safe sanctuaries

The Capital Group and Clico Hotel have both independently launched safe zone sanctuaries for guests needing to self-isolate due to COVID-19 issues.

Clico has offered guests who wish to self-isolate a preferential rate that can include meals.  Similarly, any staff at nearby clinics in Rosebank who would prefer not to go home after each shift, could also benefit from the same preferential rates, said Clico in a statement.

As well as enhanced hygiene measures, Clico says it has ensured that all restaurant tables are 900x900mm, meeting the required one-metre distance during meals. The hotel has several private areas that can be made available for one person or a small group of friends.

The Capital Group has launched designated safe zone ‘sanctuaries’ for guests needing to self-isolate for 14 days or until they have been cleared, and travellers who may need a temporary safe place to stay away from their family and friends, said the group in a statement.

To ensure the health and safety of guests, The Capital Group has put in place hotel procedures that limit lift usage to a maximum of two guests per lift (excluding families), plus additional hygiene measures.

Guests who wish to self-isolate, will be offered a one-bedroom apartment at special long-stay rates subject to length-of-stay policies. The offer also includes two- and three-bedroom options available for families and work colleagues. Guests can expect a fridge and pantry stocked with basics at standard costs and replenished through The Capital’s locally sourced supply chain; Halaal options with certifications made available on request; Netflix and high-speed WiFi plus complimentary in-apartment laundry. The Capital Group’s product is designed as a flexible long stay, where guests can stay from 14-90 days or longer.
