CEO Ed Bastian recently announced that Delta Air Lines, in partnership with American wireless network operator T-Mobile, would offer fast, free WiFi to customers on most of its domestic mainline flights from February 1.
The airline plans to offer the service on more than 700 Viasat high-speed satellite broadband-equipped aircraft by the end of 2023.
It also plans to bring free WiFi to its international and regional aircraft by the end of 2024.
“At work, at home and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different,” said Bastian, speaking last week at the Consumer Electronics Tradeshow in Las Vegas.
“Our vision has long been to deliver an experience at 30 000 feet that feels similar to what our customers have available on the ground.”
To access Delta's free WiFi, passengers must be SkyMiles members and/or T-Mobile customers. Becoming a SkyMiles member is free and passengers can join while on board to take advantage of the service.
