As part of Hilton’s broader strategy to grow in sub-Saharan Africa, the global hospitality company is to open a new Hilton Garden Inn Polokwane in South Africa and a Hilton Lusaka Pyramid in Zambia.
Hilton said it had signed 29 deals in 15 countries over the past year, which would see its African footprint growth to more than 180 hotels.
Hilton Garden Inn Polokwane
Opening in 2028, Hilton Garden Inn Polokwane will feature an all-day-dining restaurant, lobby bar and rooftop bar, an outdoor pool and fitness centre, alongside flexible facilities, including four rooms for meetings and events.
The hotel will be located in a mixed-use development close to the city’s business district and directly opposite a retail centre, offering travellers easy access to establishments for both business and leisure.
The hotel is being developed in partnership with Net Worth Properties (Pty) Ltd, a Polokwane-based developer with a portfolio of commercial, retail and residential properties.
Hilton has several South African hotel projects in the pipeline. This latest signing follows the recent signing of The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and two additional hotels currently under development.
Hilton Lusaka Pyramid
Scheduled to open in 2027, Hilton Lusaka Pyramid will feature 211 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining venues including a choice of speciality restaurants, an all-day-dining restaurant, lobby café, and pool bar.
The hotel will also feature an executive lounge, fitness centre, spa and outdoor swimming pools. The hotel will house several meeting and event spaces, including a ballroom and 11 meeting rooms.
Hilton Lusaka Pyramid will be located in the Sunningdale part of Lusaka, near embassies and government offices. It will also provide convenient access to the city’s key commercial districts as well as Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
The hotel is being developed in partnership with Zebra Manufacturing Zambia Limited, a subsidiary of Asmara Holdings based in Dubai.
