Delta’s creative baggage hack

A Delta passenger aircraft crossed the Atlantic to Heathrow and returned to Detroit, with no passengers on either leg.

It brought 1 000 pieces of lost baggage with the aim of reuniting them with their owners in the US.

While Delta and other carriers are limited in how many passengers they may bring into the airport daily, this was the US airline’s creative solution – fly the baggage only to try to keep customers happy.

The baggage mountain at Heathrow continues to grow while the airport remains woefully understaffed in its ground-handling operations. Baggage continues to accumulate at origin, as it cannot be loaded on the aircraft in time for the flight.
