MSC upgrades Portuguese Island facilities
MSC Cruises has further upgraded the facilities on its
three-night weekend cruise to Portuguese Island. New
developments include an upgraded 100sqm buffet area, a
larger fun zone area hosting numerous sports tournaments,
as well as larger bars and an upgraded kiddies’ zone.
Changes have also been made to the tour’s shore
excursions, including snorkelling at Santa Maria and other
water sports such as Snipe Tube and Family Fun Rides.
An exclusive beach lounge with sun beds, umbrellas,
private entrance and a dedicated bar service is also open
to guests. Extra shade is available on the beach for
hot days.


‘Best price’ shore tours from Carnival
CARNIVAL Cruise Lines recently launched its new shore
excursion best price guarantee. The guarantee is unique to
Carnival and gives guests condence that they are getting
the best possible price and value.
It applies to all Carnival Cruise shore tours departing from
North America and guests can complete a claim form
should they nd that the tour they are booked for is offered
at a lower price by a different operator. On completing the
claim form they will receive 110% of the difference as a
shipboard credit. The claim can take place up to seven
days before, during or after the cruise. Claims are then
processed within 24 to 48 hours. Guests must provide the
name of the competitor offering the tour in question; the
excursion’s name; its duration; where it was advertised;
its price; and value-adds such as lunch, drinks, and
transportation and admission fees.


Allure of the Seas to sail the Med
ROYAL Caribbean International has announced that Allure
of the Seas will homeport in Barcelona in 2015. This is the
rst time the Oasis-class ship has returned to European
waters since RCI took delivery of it in 2010, since when it
has been cruising the Caribbean. Its new voyages will take
guests to new Mediterranean destinations.
Starting May 24, 2015, Allure of the Seas will depart every
Sunday from Barcelona and sail a seven-night itinerary,
calling at Palma De Mallorca; Provence (Marseilles); and
Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Rome (Civitavecchia), and
Naples/Capri. Guests can also embark in Rome for a
seven-night cruise.


Star Clipper brings Med history to life
GUESTS on two of Star Clipper’s Greece and Turkey
voyages will have the opportunity to attend guest lectures
on Mediterranean history. Archaeologist, successful
author and expert in the Mediterranean region, Dr Renate
Scheiper, will present a series of lectures aboard the Star
Clipper on May 3 and May 10 in both English and German.
By focusing on destinations to which the Star Clipper will
be sailing, she will help bring the voyage to life.
