First super ship to sail the Seine
UNIWORLD Boutique River Cruise Collection’s newest ship, S.S. Joie
de Vivre, which launched on March 27, is the first super ship on the
River Seine and will sail on Uniworld’s Paris and Normandy itinerary
between April 2 and December 27. The ship is 125 metres long
(rather than the typical 135 metres) and has two royal suites, eight
junior suites and 54 staterooms, with a maximum capacity of 128
guests. Le Pigalle, Salon Toulouse, Le Bistrot and Le Cave des Vins,
are the on-board restaurants, as well as L’Esprit Bar. There is also an
on-board spa and wellness centre, Club L’Esprit, and a pool.


Carnival orders new ships
CARNIVAL Corporation has signed an agreement with Italian
shipbuilder, Fincantieri S.p.A, for two new ships for Holland America
Line and Princess Cruises. Princess Cruises’ new ship, expected to
be delivered in 2020, will have capacity for 3 660 passengers and
will be its sixth Royal-class vessel. It will feature multiple dining
options, entertainment, retail venues, as well as Princess Cruises’
signature outdoor movie screen. More than 80% of staterooms will
have balconies. It will also feature Ocean Medallion Class, a new
class introduced by Carnival Corporation that offers passengers
enhanced services and a personalised experience. Holland America
Line’s new ship, expected to be delivered in 2021, will carry 2 660
passengers and will be the cruise line’s third Pinnacle-class vessel.
Carnival Corporation now has 19 new ships scheduled for delivery
between 2017 and 2022.
