Egypt to introduce digital immigration cards

Egypt will scrap paper immigration cards and switch to a digital entry system by the end of the month, Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Henafy said in a television interview with Sada El Balad.

The change means travellers will no longer need to fill out the traditional paper ‘passport card’ usually handed out during the flight or on arrival, with traveller information instead drawn directly from passport data.

The move is part of the country’s plan to streamline travel and arrival procedures at Egyptian airports by digitising entry procedures. Last year, Egypt began piloting a new digital, self-service visa-on-arrival system to streamline entry into the country.
