Emirates relaunches Adelaide service

Emirates has announced the relaunch of its daily service to Adelaide from October this year, signifying the full restoration of its pre-pandemic capacity to Australia.

Flight EK440 will depart from Dubai at 02h00 and arrive in Adelaide at 20h50. The return flight, EK441 will depart from Adelaide at 22h35 and arrive in Dubai at 05h15 the following day. Using a Boeing 777-200LR, the service will provide 4 200 weekly seats between the two cities.

“This is great news for our customers who will once again benefit from Emirates’ extensive global network via Dubai. It offers greater competition and choice for travellers, including through Emirates’ codesharing arrangement with Qantas, connecting through the Middle East to Europe and Africa. Equally, it creates significant tourism and wider economic opportunities in attracting international visitors to Adelaide,” said Brenton Cox, Adelaide Airport MD.

The announcement comes after Emirates began doubling its premium economy offering between Dubai and Melbourne at the beginning of February. The airline also recently announced that it would reinstate a second service to Perth in December this year, with a Boeing 777-300R flight in addition to its existing A380 service.

Emirates is not the only airline to increase its flights to Australia. Turkish Airlines also recently announced it would launch a service between Istanbul and Melbourne in March. The airlines saw a gap in the Australian market after Qatar Airways was denied an expansion request by the Australian government.
