Spain clears TK stake in Air Europa

Turkish Airlines has received approval from the Spanish government for its minority stake in Air Europa, expected to range between 25% and 27% once financial adjustments have been made.

The bid, which was accepted by Air Europa in 2025, has progressed to the formal stage, with the investment agreement signed and the process for securing regulatory permits under way.

The transaction involves a Foreign Direct Investment of R5,9 billion and is expected to be finalised this year.

The deal is projected to strengthen Turkish Airlines’ access to Latin American markets, while also expanding passenger flight networks between Spain and Turkey.
