Emirates and SAA have expanded their codeshare partnership, establishing a reciprocal codeshare agreement between both carriers and expanding access to nine cities across Africa.
Since launching their codeshare agreement, Emirates and SAA have operated under a unilateral arrangement, with SAA placing its code on Emirates-operated flights between Dubai and Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.
The new agreement will see Emirates place its code on SAA-operated flights.
The expansion includes nine new routes: three domestic routes linking Johannesburg with Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and six regional routes from Johannesburg to Kinshasa, Gaborone, Windhoek, Lusaka, Harare and Victoria Falls.
“By placing our code on SAA’s domestic and regional network, we are opening seamless access to destinations across South Africa and neighbouring countries, backed by the reliability and consistency our customers expect from Emirates,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.
