England’s “green list” shrinks

Although England and the UK claim they are liberalising travel and holidays for their inhabitants and visitors, the Green List (countries which the British may visit without restrictions) is steadily shrinking as the Amber and Red Lists grow.  

The Amber List means travel is discouraged by government,  72-hour PCR test before departure, two more tests after arrival and 10-day self-isolation on arrival in UK. The Red List denotes that travel is strongly discouraged by government, only British and Irish nationals and residents are allowed in from these countries (no tourists),72-hour PCR test and 10 days pre-booked managed quarantine.

On June 3, the UK government updated its lists on gov.uk. Portugal was designated for removal from the Green List to Amber on June 8. Also, on that date, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Costa Rica, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Sudan, and Trinidad and Tobago will move from Amber to Red list.

From June 8, the Red List comprises:
