Ethiopian Airlines aims to grow its footprint in South Africa with increased flight frequencies, upgraded aircraft and an expanded NDC offering to connect more South African travellers with the rest of its global network.
At the end of March, the airline increased frequencies between Addis Ababa and Cape Town with double-daily flights. The airline now operates two afternoon flights every day of the week between the two cities. The airline told Travel News it planned to expand its presence in South Africa with additional destinations in the country.
Ethiopian is also working on aircraft upgrades on its South African routes to further elevate the passenger experience and enhance operations.
NDC offering
The airline is expanding its distribution strategy through its B2B platform, Ethiopian NDC, and its Acelia-powered connection, offering access to content not available via GDS channels.
It is also progressing with plans to roll out NDC connections to a broader network of travel agents in South Africa, with work already under way alongside major industry partners.
