Etihad to resume Joburg flights

Effective June 15, Etihad will resume flights between Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg. The flights will operate three times weekly.

The route restoration comes as Gulf carriers continue rebuilding schedules after severe operational disruptions caused by regional airspace restrictions and conflict-related closures earlier this year.

In March, Etihad suspended scheduled commercial services to and from Abu Dhabi amid escalating tensions and airspace closures across parts of the Middle East. The airline later resumed a limited schedule initially focusing on key international destinations and repatriation operations.

Etihad has since gradually expanded operations, with recent advisories indicating that the airline has restored more than 80% of its network.

The reinstated Johannesburg service restores direct connectivity between South Africa and Abu Dhabi, reconnecting travellers to Etihad’s broader international network via the UAE hub.

Flights are currently available for booking through Etihad’s sales channels and GDS.
