On International Women’s Day (March 8) Exodus Travels launched its first ‘Female Only Departures’, a collection of adventure expeditions in all-female groups, while Intrepid Travel launched a range of women’s trips to north Africa and the Middle East on the same day.
Exodus Travels’ ‘Female Only Departures’ are available on the following holidays:
In 2018:
• Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast, an eight-day trip departing on August 5
• Discover Myanmar (Burma), 16 days, departing on September 15
• Walking the French Riviera, eight days, departing September 29; Essential Peru, 16 days departing October 12
• Cycle Indochina and Angkor, a 16-day cycling trip spanning three countries, departing October 13
• Mountains and Villages of Evia (Greece), eight days, departing October 14
• Walking the Amalfi Coast, eight days, departing November 10
• Discover Costa Rica, 16 days, departing November 14
• Johannesburg to Cape Town, a 22-day trip taking in Swaziland, Lesotho, Cape Town and Johannesburg, departing December 8.
In 2019:
• Journey to Persia (Iran), 16 days, departing March 2
• Cycle Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, a 16-day cycling trip departing on March 30
• Highlights of China, 12 days, departing on May 11.

All the trips include flights, and will be led by a local female expert. To further assist women around the world, Exodus Travels supports Freedom Kit Bags, a charity that provides reusable sanitary kits to women and girls from rural and low-income areas in Nepal. For every booking made on these special female departures, Exodus will donate a Freedom Kit Bag, containing two years’ worth of reusable sanitary products to these communities.
Intrepid Travels’ women’s expeditions have been designed to immerse travellers in the culture and lives of women living and working in Middle Eastern countries, where cultural norms and gender roles are different from the west.
The expeditions will include eight-day trips in both Morocco and Jordan, and a 12-day trip in Iran. Each trip will be led by a female local expert.
