Explora Journeys has postponed EXPLORA I’s inaugural cruise – which was meant to leave Southampton on July 17 – as the company ensures that all materials meet required safety certification standards.
Some problems with safety certification prompted Explora Journeys’ decision to cancel the delivery ceremony last week to make further enhancements. The cruise line is working with Fincantieri to swiftly replace affected materials to guarantee the compliance of the ship.
The shipbuilder is currently in discussions with the relevant classification societies to obtain EXPLORA I’s safety certification promptly.
Explora said the ship would now depart on its first cruise from Copenhagen on August 1. It said it understood the disappointment the delay had caused for guests, however its first priority was the safety of the passengers and crew.
