MSC Group’s luxury brand, Explora Journeys has taken delivery of its first luxury ship, EXPLORA I, and announced the date of its maiden voyage.  EXPLORA I is the first of six vessels.

The delivery ceremony took place on July 20 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where the construction of the vessel began in 2021.

The investment in the new ship amounts to over €500 million (R9,7bn).

EXPLORA I will set sail on its maiden seven-night journey from Copenhagen on August 1, sailing through Lerwick in the Shetland Islands and Kirkwall in Orkney before heading to Reykjavik. It will then spend several weeks in northern Europe, offering a range of 7 to 11-night itineraries.

It will then cross the Atlantic via Greenland to spend the autumn in North America, the winter in the Caribbean, and spring in the US West Coast and Hawaii. Finally, it will return to Europe in summer 2024 to offer a collection of journeys in the Mediterranean.

Explora Journeys promises guests access to exclusive experiences.
