FASTJET plans to launch its

fourth international route

from Tanzania, as well as

its second hub in Africa.

The airline will launch

flights between Dar es

Salaam and Entebbe,

Uganda, on September 16.

Bookings for flights are now

open.

Flights will initially

operate on Tuesdays and

Thursdays, but will increase

to four flights a week from

September 29. Fares start

at US$50(R534) one-way,

excluding taxes.

Ed Winter, ceo of fastjet,

says: “We believe the

launch of this route, the

only direct air link between

Uganda and Tanzania, will

stimulate new business

and tourism traffic in

Uganda.”

Meanwhile, the airline

group’s plans to launch a

base in Kenya are on track.

Fastjet has submitted its

Air Service Licence (ASL)

application to the Kenyan

Civil Aviation Authority

(KCAA) and plans to launch

domestic and international

flights from the hub.

To comply with local

airline ownership rules in

Kenya, 51% of the equity

of fastjet Kenya is owned

by a Kenyan national.

The balance of 49% is

ultimately held by fastjet

plc.

In addition, fastjet will add

morning flights to its Dar

es Salaam and Kilimanjaro

schedule from September

29. Flights will operate on

Tuesdays, Thursdays and

Saturdays.

FN0153 will depart DAR

at 06h00 and arrive in JRO

at 07h05. The return flight,

FN0154, will depart JRO at

07h45 and arrive in DAR at

08h50.

These flights connect with

fastjet’s services from JNB.

Fastjet operates between

DAR and JNB every Monday,

Wednesday and Friday.

FN201 departs DAR at

20h30 and arrives in JNB

at 23h15. FN202 departs

JNB at 00h05 and arrives

in DAR at 04h40.
