Free Gautrain rides for Springbok supporters

The Gautrain is offering supporters wearing Springbok gear a free ride to and from OR Tambo International Airport today to celebrate South Africa winning the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The team will arrive on a series of flights on Tuesday, November 5, from about 16h30. Travellers going to the airport can enter a Gautrain station free between 13h30 and 15h30, and travellers returning from the airport can enter the station free between 18h00 and 20h00.

The following terms and conditions will apply:

  • Supporters must wear a Springbok shirt (green or white)
  • Free parking is available only at Centurion, Midrand, Marlboro and Sandton stations on a first come, first served basis
  • Only travellers who are not carrying luggage can take advantage of this promotional offer.
  • When entering a parkade, take a paper ticket and keep it safe until return (do not use Gautrain Gold or Swift cards to enter the parking as non-rail user rates for parking will be charged)
  • On return to the station after the event, eligible supporters must present the paper ticket at the ticket office to receive a free exit from the parkade
  • Free travel is only allowed if there is adequate rail service and parking capacity available
  • No free travel on Gautrain buses
