Uganda has been declared Ebola-free by its Ministry of Health.
Health authorities said the virus had been introduced through a fully documented imported infection.
The source was identified and all confirmed cases were linked. Transmission chains were fully traced and everyone identified as a contact completed the mandatory 21-day quarantine period, with no evidence of further spread.
Enhanced surveillance has also detected no unexplained community transmission, allowing Uganda to formally declare the infection over.
