The Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched its #RooftopGP experience to stimulate domestic travel as part of the sector recovery plan. The campaign aims to encourage and promote rooftop experiences as part of tours and excursions in Gauteng as the demand for new experiential and personalised venues grows.

Rooftop experiences have become popular around the world among travellers looking for trendy and intimate summer gatherings. Gauteng itself boasts over 50 quality rooftop venues, including in the townships.

GTA CEO, Sthembiso Dlamini, says the campaign will promote key attractions as well as unique experiences to drive the message that Gauteng is a destination of choice for quality leisure and business events, and a preferred destination for creative arts and competitive sports.

“With this platform, we hope to implement a dedicated marketing drive that leverages our urban city vibe positioning and its related activities by packaging these rooftops into must-experience offerings that can be added into our travel trade partners’ itineraries. As the GTA, we are amplifying our targeted sales approach that engenders an impact-driven approach to our marketing and promotional efforts,” Dlamini says.

The Gauteng Tourism Authority hosted the launch of the #RooftopGP experience at Rooftop BBQ in Sandton on February 10.
