Ghana and South Africa waive visas

Good news for Ghanaian and South African citizens who frequently travel between the two countries is that visas for 90-day stays “without recourse to work” have been waived by both countries.

Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration posted a press release on its social media channels on Friday, October 13, announcing the new development. It noted that the visa change would be effective from November 1 for ordinary passport holders.

Previously, South Africans travelling to Ghana could obtain a visa on entry that was valid for 30 days. For Ghanaians travelling to South Africa, their visa application depended on the nature of their travel.
