Movers and Shakers: SATIB appoints new MD

SATIB Insurance Brokers has announced that long-serving group Exco member and SATIB Board Member Kevin Watson stepped into the role of MD on May 1, succeeding Dewald Cillie.

Cillie played a pivotal role in shaping SATIB’s success over his 21-year tenure and will remain involved with SATIB in an advisory capacity while pursuing new opportunities.

Having served on the SATIB Board for 16 years – and previously holding senior roles at IFA Hotels & Resorts and SATSA in the tourism sector and at Board level of many insurance brokers in Africa – Watson brings extensive experience that aligns with SATIB’s long-standing commitment to providing expert-led insurance solutions designed specifically for Africa’s tourism sector.

“SATIB has spent 35 years building strong relationships within African tourism because we understand that this industry requires more than just standard insurance policies,” said Watson.

“My focus will be on ensuring SATIB continues to evolve alongside our clients’ needs while maintaining our reputation as a trusted partner in risk management.”

Outgoing Cillie said leading the company has been one of his greatest professional honours.

“I leave knowing that, under Kevin’s leadership and with our incredible team, SATIB is not only set up for continued success but is positioned to build further on its legacy as the go-to insurance partner for Africa’s dynamic tourism economy,” Cillie said.
