Hackers target SAS

20 Feb 2023

Scandinavian Airlines was hit by a cyberattack on Tuesday, February 14, compromising its app.

After hackers targeted its website and reportedly leaked customer information from its app that evening, the airline warned customers not to use the app until it was fixed.

According to Simple Flying, SAS has been working on a solution, saying the problem was fixed to a large extent, but the airline warned that the attack may have targeted customer data following the breach.

Karin Nyman, head of press at SAS, said the airline was trying to find a solution to protect the company website and app. She said as customers were at risk of getting false information from the app, it was best not to use it.

The incident follows the breach of India’s Go First Twitter account in September. That month, TAP passengers also reported that their sensitive personal information had been posted to the dark web, as an unauthorised third party had access to the airline’s IT systems.
