Hertz appoints SA GSA

The Hertz Corporation has appointed Holiday Holdings International as its exclusive GSA in Southern Africa.

The new partnership, which is valid for an initial period of three years, has tasked Holiday Holdings to grow outbound car rental reservations from South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Botswana to more than 8 800 Hertz locations worldwide in 150 countries.

Holiday Holdings has set up a local reservations office/ call centre for Hertz in Randburg to service the travel trade and the corporate market. The new partnership will increase awareness for Hertz and grow outbound sales.

Gavin Simpson, ceo of Holiday Holdings, said that as the GSA, it would collaborate closely with the local Hertz franchisee to grow both domestic and outbound business for Hertz, and the respective brand ambassadors of each organisation would co-ordinate their sales efforts to maximise synergy wherever possible.

Michel Taride, group president, RAC International, Hertz Corporation, added that Southern Africa was viewed as an important emerging source market for its international car rentals.
